Queen Elizabeth II, the most consistent Lady in my life, still there, when everyone else has gone. She has never put a foot wrong in any respect. She has a wealth of experience, which no one can rival. The only Head of State, respected by all, charmed Nations, leaders, Politicians and generations of her subjects, the length and breadth of our United Kingdom.
So when did the School boy, who grew up on a Council Estate, with Socialist parents, become an ardent Royalist?
Well, I suppose it really stemmed from my interest in Politics. My Father stood for Local Council Elections for a number of years and fueled my interest in Politics. I wrote to Politicians and Members of The House of Lords, expressing views, asking questions and finding out about our system of Government.
It was so different from any other Nations system of Government and it seemed to work better than any other too.
I have read many books on HM The Queen. Not the 'Behind Palace Doors' or 'Tittle Tattle' type of books, just true honest accounts of The Queen, and the amount of time and dedication she had shown to us, her Country and above all Charities, championed by Her Majesty and her family.
I am a firm believer in the work of charities and believe having a Royal Patron, behind the good work, each organisation, does is desireable, beneficial and shows a level of commitment that only our Royal Family, seem to show and express tirelessly. The Queen, is still the hardest working Royal at age 89, after giving a life time of service and commitment to us all!
Our Monarchy costs less than most other Heads of State. A very small proportion of our taxes, goes towards the upkeep of an institution that spans nearly 2000 years.
The amount of money generated for charities, business and Great Britain plc, far out weighs what you and I pay.
We have a Queen who has dedicated her life in the service of her Country. The longest serving, most respected, influential and knowledgeable Public Servant, this or any other Country has to offer its people.
HM The Queen makes me proud to be British, instills respect for my Country, charity and others, through hard work, stoicism, pride and an ability to maintain continuity and the cohesion in a volatile world!
I love to read, find out things, investigate and above all want to be sure, that what I have been told is true. I have never walked blindly into situations without first researching the reasons behind them. So if someone speaks negatively about Queen Elizabeth, I want to know why. I will not agree for the sake of agreeing.
Let me firstly say, how much admiration, I have for our Political system. It has lasted the test of time. Other States could learn much from out Constitutional Monarchy and many are, especially in Eastern Europe, who look to Britain, as a shining example, to live up too and introduce a little bit, to their own future Governance!
I am not rich, by any sense of the imagination. Positively poor in comparison to most people I know, but I am not so short sighted as to believe that our Royal Family and our Queen are just moneycentric.
As HM The Queen approaches her biggest mile stone, the longest reigning Monarch in British History. As I prepare to emigrate to Spain and marry my partner of 20 years, I am reflective about my time living here, in the country I love. I am British through and through. This country accepted my relationship, gave me opportunities, security and a huge sense of belonging. I feel proud to have been born here and will always have happy memories!
Like most British people, living abroad, I will always be part of this unique, wonderful, giving country, that gave myself and my partner chances, no other would. As time has moved on and the World has changed, I will forever be an Englishman, living in a foreign country, looking back fondly at everything I left behind, accept for The Queen, God bless her, she will always come with me, wherever I am!
God Save The Queen
Peace and Love Always!
