Kuala Lumpur is a large modern city, also every now and again, you will find an old Colonial building left in situ, around which a large modern sky scrapper is built, rather like New York. When we first discovered the wonders of Malaysia, in 1995, they were still constructing, at that time, the Worlds tallest towers, The Petronas Towers. In 2001, we were able to go up the towers, to a glass platform linking the two towers together.
The tropical temperature, right on the equator, makes Malaysia more or less seasonless. You will have downpours of rain lasting ten seconds, huge downpours, causing localised flooding, but dried out, just as quick, during the hot, humid sun. Flash lightening, against the Kuala Lumpur sky line, rumbling into the early hours of the morning. Sweat streaming from one, after just a few seconds into an insanely hot barmy sun.
Politically, Malaysia has an Elected Monarch, with its Head of State being elected from the states every five years. The people are wonderfully friendly and gracious. They will go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. Above all they are polite. I have never met more polite people in my life. A mixture of Indian, Asian, Muslim and Western. A true multicultural Country, with beautiful scenery, modern cities and tropical climate. If you ever get the chance, go. You will have the holiday of a life time!
